This traditional Chinese black tea is named for the curly shape and rich gold and black color of the leaves, which resemble the claws of a golden monkey. The dry leaves smell like high quality semi-sweet chocolate and steep into a complex cup offering sweet, malty notes complimented with bright hints of lemon and almond skin.
Each spring in Fujian, China, this tea is carefully hand-processed with one or two leaves and one bud plucked from the end of each branch, withered, rolled, then baked twice. Our Golden Monkey is EU Certified.
Steep 2-3 times just below boiling for 2-3 minutes.
